Cranfield Aviation Training – Who are we?

Our 6-week course will prepare you for this exciting industry, taking you through all the training needed for you to enjoy this interesting job.

You will be placing yourself in the hands of the best in the country – even the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SA CAA) sends their personnel for training at Cranfield.

Cranfield Aviation Training was licensed in 1999 by the SA CAA (Accreditation number: CAA/0018) and so are the longest standing Cabin Crew training organisation in South Africa, with a combined aviation experience of over 200 years amongst our Management, Designated Examiners and Instructors, who have owned, managed, flown and instructed at airlines such as SAA, British Airways Comair, SA Airlink, as well as at Executive / Corporate Airlines.

What is being a Cabin Crew Member all about?

The work of a flight attendant is very exciting and offers the opportunity to meet different people. From the moment you welcome passengers onboard the aircraft, their safety and comfort are your concern. You will be demonstrating emergency procedures, serving meals and drinks, taking care of special needs passengers, and may be selling duty-free items. You will deal with both routine tasks, as well as exceptional and challenging situations.

Flight attendants are important representatives of the airline and must present a good image at all times. A flight attendant should:

  • Have a friendly, caring personality.
  • Be contactable at all times (make sure your cell phone is turned on).
  • Have a reliable means of getting to work at unusual hours – being ‘on time’ for work is vital.
