Parkland Special School South Africa

Parkland Special School

We are an educational/research organisation. We cater for 250 severely mentally disabled learners, of whom 26 are autistic. We accept learners at our school from 6 to 18 years of age and we follow the prescribed curriculum of the Department of Education, however we adjust and adapt the curriculum according to the abilities and capabilities of the learners. We receive a subsidy from the Department of Education but we charge school fees and transport fees to pay items such as salaries for the school governing body employees. The learners are provided with a daily nutritional meal. We call on the relevant departments for assistance and guidance in cases of abuse and neglect. If any learners need identity documents or social grants, we provide them with referral letters and send the parents to the relevant government departments. We do not have any boarding or hostel facilities. We are open from 07:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday. We are closed during school holidays.
