Admission Requirements
An applicant must comply with either point 1, 2 or 3.
- Applicant with Senior Certificate (prior to 2009) with University exemption, or its equivalent (NQF level 4) as determined with an M-score of 10 and at least an E symbol on Higher Grade or a D symbol on Standard Grade pass for all of the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- English
- Physical science
- Biology
- Applicants with a National Senior Certificate with a diploma endorsement must have the following subjects, all at NQF level 4 and rating codes as stipulated:
- Mathematics (code 3)
- English (code 5)
- Physical Science (code 3)
- Life Sciences (code 3)
- Additional Subject 1 (code 3)
- Additional Subject 2 (code 3)
The applicant must have a minimum of 21 points which excludes Life Orientation.
- Applicants with a National Certificate (Vocational) must have achieved a minimum of 60% for all of the following subjects:
- Mathematics at NQF level 4
- English at NQF level 4
- Physical Science at NQF level 4
- Life Sciences at NQF level 4
Applicants will also undergo a fitness test, psychometric testing and an interview as part of the selection process. Payment of a non-refundable application fee and South African citizenship will also be required.

- Have a valid Matric (grade 12)
- Be 25 years and older
- Be a registered Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) with the HPCSA
- Have a minimum of 5 years operational experience
- Be currently employed by an Emergency Medical Service
- Write and pass a theory and clinical assessments
