Anchor Lite College SA (Pty) Ltd was founded by the late Mr Buds Nirhoo, thirty two years ago, when apartheid was the rule of the day, making quality tertiary education scarce & a fantasy for the majority of the South African population who were discriminated against.

It was then that Mr Nirhoo has a vision of making possible what seemed impossible for many who longed to study further but did not have the money or more importantly, at that time, the skin colour to do so. It goes without saying that Mr Nirhoo was the champion of the cause to make available affordable education for every citizen from all walks of life, irrespective of race, creed, religion or gender, but with the ultimate goal of empowering the disadvantaged.

From humble beginnings of just 6 typewriters & 5 students in a small office as a classroom, grew a landmark in private tertiary education known as Anchor-Lite College.

Established in 1972,under the proprietorship of the late Buds Nirhoo, Anchor-Lite College was the pioneer institution to open its doors to a multicultural society, maintaining discipline at its highest level. Today,a woman that stands proudly at the fore front of a country in transition is Mrs. Shahani Deepa Sewrajh, who is following in the footsteps of her father, thereby continuing the anchorlite legacy. Mrs.Sewrajh ensures that Anchorlite continues to deliver relevant affordable qualifications that will lead to employment and promotions within the working environment.

Over the years, Anchor Lite College SA (Pty) Ltd has become a household name amongst various communities, as it continues to grow from strength, setting standards, and paving the way for private education. Anchor-Lite Independent school, in the interim, has undergone several structural changes, creating direction and vision for the forth coming years. we are proud that we have aligned ourselves with FET grade 10,11 and 12 School curriculum, and have successfully taken FET learning through the process of portfolio tasks,activities,continued assessments and final examinations.
