Walter Sisulu University WSU Department of Accounting
Business Management Science & Law Programmes
Walter Sisulu University Department Of Accounting, The faculty aims to produce highly skilled graduates, innovative new products and knowledge through courses, programmes, community and research projects that are carefully designed for this purpose.
The Faculty also actively engages many of these and other graduates in innovation, utilizing the envisaged WSU science and technology campus, commonly referred to as the TechnoPark, to generate marketable new knowledge and products and further incubate these to generate profitable SMMEs (Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises).
In this way, the faculty will gradually move away from the philosophy of focusing on the generation of only highly skilled graduates that are released as job seekers into the public and private sectors, towards the philosophy of generating small and medium micro-enterprises, and these will migrate into the private sector as job creators.
Walter Sisulu University Department Of Accounting, Concomitantly the faculty will also maintain a high level of research unit productivity and therefore help to shift WSU from the traditional focus on the production of highly skilled graduates to the proliferate production of new knowledge through research units.
Of course the faculty will, as part of its commitment to the career needs of the communities and industries that it serves, continue its tradition of producing highly skilled graduates who will take up high level positions in the public and private sectors
Faculty research niche areas include:
– Earth and environmental sciences for sustainable development
– Engineering and technology for sustainable development
– Physical sciences for sustainable development
