Journalism is alive and well and you can write about more than ever before

It’s difficult to think of a career path that has as much historical, social, political and personal aspects as journalism. With a good journalism course you can get into a field where you can combine creativity with critical thinking, inventiveness with factuality, and investigations everything interesting, all at once.

You might think that journalism is a 20th century phenomenon with printing becoming cheaper and with an increasingly literate public. But journalism dates back to when Julius Caesar ordered daily government bulletins to be carved on stone and metal. Things have moved along from newspapers and magazines in the 18th century, and radio and television in the 20th century. 21st century Internet means there’s more to write about on more platforms than ever before.

This constant innovation, bustling energy and constant striving to keep up with what’s new is what makes journalism, journalism. It’s never been just about sitting in a newsroom and reporting about things you hear on the 7 o’clock news. And with the exponential development currently happening, there is no shortage of news to report on.
