ACADEMICS AT VARSITY COLLEGE

Varsity College has developed a reputation for offering top-of-the-class tuition support for a variety of higher education degrees, diplomas and certificates. We believe our success stems from our progressive attitudes to learning, investment in resources and, most importantly, the development of a personalized support system for each student.

EDUCATION THROUGH IDEAS EXCHANGE

The Varsity College teaching philosophy of “Quality Teaching for Quality Learning” aims to make academic life as interesting and participative as possible – whether you are studying full-time or part-time. The most effective learning, we believe, stems from a dynamic two-way exchange. Our unique, collaborative approach means you get to participate actively in your studies, engage with subject material, build understanding and develop critical thinking.

TAUGHT BY QUALIFIED, PRACTICING PROFESSIONALS

Varsity College’s lecturers are highly qualified and – in many instances – active in their professional field. This ensures they are up to date with industry practices and issues, bringing subject theory to life in a relevant way.

Lecturers are further equipped via a support system of ongoing peer reviews, skills development workshops and Academic Development Coordinators, who keep staff up to speed on the best teaching methods.

SMALL CLASSES, BIG ACADEMIC BENEFITS

Another key aspect of our academic approach is the small size of our classes – on average 40 to 50 students per lecture venue. This inviting learning environment encourages students to ask questions, formulate arguments, express opinions and develop a relationship with lecturers. How many students have the confidence to do that in a daunting 500-seater auditorium typical of traditional tertiary institutions?

PERSONALLY WATCHING OUT FOR YOU

At Varsity College, every student’s academic progress is monitored by a Programme Co-ordinator who’s there to provide support should you encounter difficulties. Continual informal assessment by lecturers also helps students identify weak areas of understanding and keep up to speed. We’ve put these personalised measures in place to make sure that nothing stands in the way of your success.

PUTTING THEORY INTO PRACTICE

Many Varsity College programmes provide students with the opportunity to step out of the lecture theatre and experience the reality of their chosen field – whether simulated or actually in the workplace. Lecturers provide support throughout this process, and it’s not uncommon for students to find a permanent position at the placement company on completion of their studies.

CONNECTED, WITH CUTTING-EDGE FACILITIES

Varsity College takes full advantage of the latest technological developments and innovations in taking our students’ learning experience to the next level. Increasingly, lecturers use the likes of touchscreens and multimedia content as teaching aids, while email, SMS and social media provide greater academic support outside lecture halls.

Wireless Internet access is available on all VC campuses. In turn, information literacy skills are developed in computer rooms and libraries which, via online educational databases and networks, give students access to a wide range of academic material, online books, periodicals and journals.
