The first step to building a credible CV is through work experience – especially while still studying. This way you’ll gain skills that compliment your chosen career and help you to stand out in a competitive graduate environment.

3. FULL TIME PLACEMENT SUPPORT
If you have been actively involved in part time work and all that the VCCC has to offer such as our Career Fairs and simulated job interviews, you should be ready to enter full time employment in your area of study.
As a member of the South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA), Varsity College has access to more than 200 members, representing over 120 organisations – from ABSA to Woolworths – all of whom are potential employers.
Although the Career Centre can’t guarantee you employment, we’re there to help you develop the skills to ultimately secure that career-launching first job.
If you are a student in your final year of study, or you’ve successfully completed your qualification, make sure you’re registered for our GO (Graduate Opportunities) Placement Programme. We will mentor you through the application process to find full-time job opportunities with big corporates and small businesses alike.

Your Career Centre Coordinator will help you at every stage, making sure you are sufficiently prepared in terms of the different requirements – from correctly completing forms to helping you stand out with confidence when presenting yourself in person. This will give you the best possible chance of landing that first job you’ve always dreamed about.
