University of Cape Town UCT Strategic Decision Making Course
GSB Strategic Decision Making
Many of the big failures in business; like those of BP, Kodak, Blackberry and Nokia can be explained by a combination of human error, missed opportunities and poor decision-making.
This happens when, among other things, business leaders place too much weight on the present instead of the future; when they choose available information over unavailable information, trust in intuition over information, and fixate on potential losses over potential gains.
This exhilarating new short course shares vital knowledge and insights drawn from behavioural science and decision analysis theory that will allow delegates to make better strategic decisions. Through a series of case studies and activities, participants will get a first-hand experience of how strategic decision-making can go wrong and will be offered practical tools and techniques that will help them to make better choices, preventing the “How did I miss that?” regret after the fact.
Geopolitical global instability due to factors like Brexit, the Trump presidency, ISIS, climate change etc., mean more uncertainty and a more complex business world. As the challenges increase, the pressure also rises for those having to make strategic decisions about the future of their company.
