Application Procedure

 

The application procedure for postgraduate study in the various schools of the Faculty of Health Sciences differs per school and per department. The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of three schools, namely:

SCHOOL OF NURSING
Postgraduate degrees and diplomas:

The School of Medicine offers a wide range of postgraduate degrees and diplomas.

  • Honours degrees
  • Diploma qualifications
  • Master’s degrees
  • PhD degrees

Admission requirements:

 

Some programmes have additional admission requirements and the relevant department or Postgraduate Administrative Office should be contacted.

Specialists and subspecialists are appointed by the Department of Health and the Head of Department.

Selection criteria:

 

The final selection is subject to the discretion of the Head of the Department.

Departments:

Postgraduate studies are offered by the various departments, namely:

All applications for admission as postgraduate students must be sent to the specific applicable department.

Selection criteria:

For the minimum average required in the final year of the undergraduate programme, for entrance to the postgraduate programmes, please refer to the Yearbook (Academic Programmes).

For all programmes, an English proficiency test also applies, which must be passed with a mark of at least 65%.

Selection for postgraduate studies is also subject to an interview of the prospective student/candidate with the Head of Department and relevant lecturer(s).

The final selection is subject to the discretion of the Head of the Department.

Bridging courses may be required, depending on the needs of the applicant and in consultation with the lecturers and Head of the Department.
