Preparation for life:

This part of our programme is one of the most beneficial aspects as the GAP students are required to practice all of the things that they have not been accustomed to doing! These include tidying their own rooms, keeping their living area presentable, buying their own food and preparing their own meals, and doing their own washing up and laundry. The cumulative benefit of doing these many short training courses over one year far outweighs the benefit of one doing an individual course on their own. Many of the skills training courses completed over the year are generic in that the skills can be applied in any chosen career, study path, family or social context.

Preparation for life courses:

  • Careers Week
  • Surf Lifesaving
  • Ocean Sailing Deck Hand
  • Career “Portfolio” Collation
  • Performance Appraisal
  • Mountain Hiking Guide
  • Abseil Supervisor
  • Advanced First Aid
