NCV Engineering and Related Design: Fitting and Turning
All machinery requires components and parts to make them work. Fitters and turners are the people responsible for the manufacturing and installation of these pieces. They use different tools and machines such as mills and drills to turn metal into the required parts and then install them into the greater structure to complete the machine. After installation they run various tests to ensure everything is running as it should and make alterations if needed.
By knowing how to do Mathematics and Technical Drawings, you will be able to design structures and by understanding the theories involved, you will have a better idea of what each project needs to succeed. The knowledge and skills you’ll acquire through this course would give you the relevant background to become a Fitter and Turner. Even though Fitting and Turning is a physical job, it is important to be educated in the theories that apply to construction and operations.
How is the programme structured?
The National Certificate (Vocational) is a three year qualification made up of three certificates obtained on NQF Levels 2, 3 and 4.
All National Certificate (Vocational) programmes consist of a fundamentals learning component and a vocational component and comprise 130 credits on each level.
