KEEN TO BECOME A RUNNER WITH OPTIFIT?

OptiFit runs various programmes to inspire and guide you tackle the 10km, 21.1km distances or to get you into trail running

OptiFit, which runs in association with the Sports Science Institute of SA (SSISA), will have various running programmes in 2018- kicking off the year with an 8 weeks to 21.1km programme for 10km runners.



Recent research, conducted by UCT’s Division of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, found the OptiFit programmes to be extremely safe and scientific with members reaching their goal with no muscle damage or pain.

OPTIFIT OFFERS YOU:

  • Health and fitness assessments at the start and the end to check your progress.
    • 3 training sessions per week withcaring sports scientists or biokineticists – themselves runners who help you master the skills and gain confidence to run a half-marathon.
  • Strength-training exercises to supplement your running.
    • Weekly educational articles and electronic newsletter.
    • Availability of manager online to answer your queries.
    • Support during race and a certificate and celebration after target event.
    * Some guest passes to train at the SSISA’s Fitness Centre with preferential joining rates.

Ø  The 8 weeks to 21.1km course for established 10km runners starts late January are there are limited spots available, so sign up now!

Ø  You need to be healthy and uninjured with no major health risk factors to sign up.

Ø  The official target race is the Old Mutual Two Oceans 21.1km on 31 March.
