Welcome to the The South African Theological Seminary (SATS) which is a fully accredited and registered, online institution, focusing on equipping you for service, right where you are in your local church.
- Bible-based, Christ-centred, Spirit-led
- Credits for prior learning and experience
- Enrol at any time of the year
- Pay as you go.
In the past, and to a lesser extent, the recent past, some denominations have argued that as long as the pastor has a Bible and the Holy Spirit, that is enough to equip him/her to preach. After all, the disciples did not go to Bible College, did they? Happily, one hears much less of that kind of reasoning these days and it is because more and more people have come to realise that in an age where the congregation is more intellectually astute (and more critical), and where Christianity has become subjected to the attacks of secular ideologies much more intensively, it is non-negotiable that our leaders are able to understand and clearly defend the core doctrines of the faith from a biblical perspective. To do that they need to be properly equipped by specialists in this area, namely seminary faculty.
But there are so many to choose from, I hear you say. How do I choose the best one? It is true that the choice is great, but one can easily narrow it down by asking some critically important questions: Is it accredited by a government-approved accreditation body? Are its qualifications internationally recognised and accepted? Does the curriculum have a strong evangelical, biblically-based approach? Do its faculty all uphold that approach? Are its fees affordable? Does it uphold standards of excellence in its curriculum and service-delivery?
We believe that in the case of SATS the answer to all these questions is a resounding YES! But, in addition, we have the added advantage that we offer our programmes completely online, via technologically advanced software. This means that our students do not have to leave their homes or ministries to attend expensive residential programmes. Because our campus does not have lecture halls and residences, cost-savings result in lower fees for our students, without sacrificing our very high standards.
