SACS High School Sports

Summer

Athletics

Boys enter at the end of each year in at least two events for the next year on an entry form. During the second week of the 1st term we have shorter school days in order to run heats on Monday to Thursday afternoon before other summer sports practices start.

Basketball

SACS enters an 14A, 16A and B and 19A team into the league. These games take place on Wednesdays.

Cricket

The S.A. College High School (SACS) is the oldest high school in continuous existence in South Africa. From the earliest days of it life in the Gardens, Cape Town, cricket has been played by its students, whether informally amongst the oaks on Government Avenue or on the manicured surfaces of its present-day playing fields at Montebello, Newlands.

Rowing

Rowing at SACS has a long and illustrious history and tradition. SACS has had rowing in one form or another for the past 83 years and is still going strong.

Swimming

Swimming is a primary sport at SACS. Many of our strong swimmers are also waterpolo players and as a result both clubs work closely with each other.

Tennis

Over the last few years SACS’ tennis club has shown a significant growth in numbers. We now enter regularly 8-9 u19 teams and 2 u15 teams into the leagues.

Waterpolo

As with many interschool sports in the Western Cape, SACS has played a leading role in the formation and growth of an interschools waterpolo league in the province.

Winter

Cross Country

Cross Country is one of the primary sports which SACS offers its students in winter. It has been offered as a school sport since 1962.

Hockey

It is our mission for all hockey players to have a passion for the sport which will inspire them to continue to play or be involved in this sport well after they leave the school. We want all players to feel fulfilled and reach their potential.

Rugby

Our mission is to create a successful rugby brand built on hard work, commitment, pride, loyalty, “never say die” attitude, enjoyment and freedom of expression.
