Regenesys Business School Sandton South Africa
Speaking at the official launch of the initiative at the insititution’s campus in Sandton, Johannesburg, Brett Cousins, Regenesys Director, said it was an extraordinary feat that the business school has accomplished. The project is supported by Pearson, Internet Solutions, the Human Resource Development Council of SA (HRDC), Avusa and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
According to Cousins, Regenesys endeavoured to target entrepreneurs, small businesses, school leavers and organisational staff with its programme.
“Our programme is textbook independent and we have amazing partners who aim to make this available to anyone who wishes to experience learning. Ten million people in SA have access to the Internet and we have designed this so that it is available to all in either pdf or HTML format. This is the first of its kind in the world and will be available through the fingertips of any individual,” said Cousins.
The programme would allow students to register online and thereafter access study guides, ebooks, videos, business tools, leadership conversations, articles and assessments. However, to gain entry to a contact class, encompassing further assessments and exams based at the Regenesy campus, a fee will apply. This caters for those students seeking to gain a qualification.
Ngwako Manoko, DTI Head of Communication and Marketing, said his office received calls on a daily basis enquiring about how to get into the business sector.
“This shows that there is a gap in business education and these programmes are necessary. The DTI is pleased to be apart of this initiative and we offer our resources to make this a success.”
Beverley Wharton-Hood, Pearson Director of Strategic Development, said. ” It’s an emotional day because the reason we are doing this is to make a positive contribution to education.”
In conclusion, Dr Marko Saravanja, Regenesys Chairperson, said he was inspired to make a difference in the lives of the millions who could not afford education.
“I came from Croatia 22 years ago. I was unhappy with the world and decided to dedicate my life to humanity. I spent five years in Orange Farm, fundraising and building schools. I got involved in Regenesys and to date we have trained 70 000 and educated 100 000 people. It may be a small drop in the ocean but with our next attempt, we hope to truly change the world by offering quality education.”
