History

In order to add both mining and engineering training to their offering, PMI acquired Gold Fields External Training Services from the GF mining Group in 2009. With this acquisition PMI took ownership of the Welkom Engineering Training Centre.
This training centre was established in 1981 for the use of the Anglo American group – with the vision of being the best-equipped engineering training centre in South Africa. The engineering training facilities have been accredited for many years to perform training and trade testing for apprenticeships, training and final assessments for Learnerships, as well as training and assessment in specialised technical training programmes.
