Northern Cape Rural Fet College Kathu is in partnership with the community and GDF ( Gamagara Development Trust) as Theyll as ASSMANG Mine. They are having satellites running in Postmansburg as Theyll as Lime Acres where Their part-time Engineering classes are done. GDF provided the campus with Their own ResTheirce Centre which will provide Their students with a library as Theyll as Internet access. They also have Language Lab to assist Their students.

Kathu Campus is a public Further Education and Training Institution. The College serves the extensive rural Gamagara Region which is part of John Taole District.

Management Assistant

The purpose of this programme is to equip you with knowledge and skills for successful entry into a secretarial field in any sector. The curriculum will provide an in-depth knowledge of business related and secretarial skills. The programme integrates theoretical learning with practical skills to ensure secretarial and general office management competencies in all industries. During the practical session of 18 months, these vital skills will be applied in the secretarial environment to build a successful career.

3 Years (18 months theory and 18 months practical work experience)

Grade 12 Certificate or equivelent

Financial Management

Once you complete this Diploma you will be able to apply accounting and numeracy skills to enter an accounting occupation directly and be able to deal with all procedures such as to understand accounting and management principles to have the acquired knowledge and skills of accounting systems generally used by business enterprises, Also to have the knowledge and skills of all administrative accounting tasks.

Office Administration

The purpose of this programme is to equip you with knowledge and skills for successful entry into an administrative secretarial field in any sector. The programme integrates theoretical learning with practical skills to ensure administration competencies in all industries including the formal and informal commercial sectors as well as the non-commercial sector.

Electrical Infrastructure & Construction

This programme covers heavy current, overhead power lines as well as domestic, civil and industrial industries. Furthermore, it also covers light current in the form of digital and electronics in the communications, industrial electronics and sound engineering fields, as well as instrumentation. This programme integrates academic knowledge and theory with practical skills and values.

Engineering and Related Design

In Engineering and Related Design, the student will be exposed to the basic industrial environment, engineering principles and operations, as well as engineering systems, activities and processes.

Mechanic

Automotive Repair and Maintenance introduces you to the fundamentals of vehicle technology and equips you with the necessary confidence to perform tasks related to, for example, vehicle components, engines, gearboxes, fuel systems, body components and electronics. The tasks are limited to removal, cleaning, servicing (replenishing of fluid) and fitting.

N1-N3 = 3 Trimesters of 10 weeks each plus examinations (1 Year)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Grade 10 with 50% in Mathematics OR Grade 11 with 40% in Mathematics

Electrical

Provision of a formal qualification that will equip and prepare an individual effectively to pursue an opportunity in the many different work areas of Electricity or Electronics. Examples are domestic installations and maintenance, repairing and maintenance of consumer equipment.

Fitting & Turning

This course teaches learners how to operate and monitor drilling machines, milling machines, surface grinding machines and lathes. It also includes welding/joining of metals, heat exchangers and maintenance.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Boilermaker

This course teaches different methods of fabrication including the use of triangulation, radial line and parallel line. Other aspects of fabrication that are covered include oxy-acetylene cutting, arc welding, power machine cutting, bending and rolling of steel plates.
