Bursaries and loans

The Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal) offers a wide range of bursaries to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students. Students with academic potential, who are financially in need can apply for the different bursaries.

Financial Support offers the following bursaries: academic bursaries, leadership bursaries and arts and culture bursaries. Students can also apply for support bursaries – distance bursaries, bursaries for disabled students, family and orphan bursaries.

The NSFAS bursary loans scheme also offers financial support. These bursaries cater for students with academic potential who are financially in need. The scheme is available to all full-time undergraduate students who meet a series of requirements.

Eduloan

Eduloan is the preferred provider of study loans. Since 1996 the studies of more than 530 000 students to the value of R2,2 billion have been financed. Once a loan from Eduloan has been approved, the educational institution is paid directly. No deposit is required from the student and monthly repayments are fixed for the duration of the loan. Loan terms are from 6 to 22 months.

NSFAS

The following closing dates are very important:

Applications for prospective students close on 30 September 2015.
Applications for senior students close on 31 August 2015.

By applying for NSFAS, it does NOT mean that your approval is guaranteed. Please apply for other bursaries as well.

Can I get a bursary?

Of course you can – if you produce good matric marks!

With the right marks you probably already qualify for a rebate on your class fees. The NWU offers some of the best bursaries in the country.
