Credit for previous study
Monash South Africa may grant credit for subjects (units) passed, with satisfactory grades, at other recognised tertiary institutions if:
- the subject is considered to be at least 80 percent equivalent in content and standard to those offered by Monash South Africa, and
- it is relevant to the planned course of study.
To apply for credit (advanced standing) for previous study, please complete the form for advanced standing (pdf, 144Kb). All sections must be completed and the declaration signed and dated.
You must include certified copies of all official transcripts or results from previous studies, as well as copies of the subject syllabuses/unit outlines with your application.

Visas and health insurance
Do I need a visa?
If you are coming to South Africa from another country to study, you will need a study visa. Without one you will be unable to enrol or commence with your studies at Monash South Africa (MSA). The Department of Home Affairs in South Africa requires all international students studying at Monash South Africa to be in possession of the valid study visa. Students who are in possession of a travel or visitor visas will not be allowed to take up studies at Monash South Africa. In addition, students will not be able to apply for a study visa in South Africa if they entered on a visitor visa.
How to apply for your visa
Applying for your visa is a two-step process.
