Mediclinic Diploma in Operating Department Assistance
Three-year programme
On completion of the programme, the learner will be able to work in the theatres as an Operating Department Assistant. The learner will however not be eligible to register at any of the existing professional councils.

Entry requirement
Grade 12 with admission to higher certificate or equivalent with an average of 50%; Old certificate: D-aggregate (950 marks). If you are currently in Grade 12, submit your year-end results for Grade 11.
National Senior certificate
- Any science subject – NQF Level 4 with minimum of 40% (e.g. Life Science, physical science and biology)
- Mathematics – NQF Level 4 with minimum of 40% or
- Mathematics Literacy – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
- English communication skills – NQF Level 4 with minimum of 40%
- Computer Literacy — NQF Level 3 with a minimum of 40% – highly recommended
- South African citizenship
National Vocational Certificate
- Life or Physical Science — NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
- Mathematics — NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50% or
- Mathematics Literacy — NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 60%
- English Communication Skills — NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
- Computer Literacy — NQF Level 3 with a minimum of 40% – highly recommended
- South African citizenship

South African Citizens:
- Certified copy of Senior Certificate / Grade 12
- Certified copy of your ID document
- Proof of payment of the non-refundable registration fee
- SAQA letter to confirm your Grade 12 / Senior Certificate qualification if completed outside South Africa
Foreign students with South African Citizenship:
- SAQA letter to confirm your Grade 12 / Senior Certificate qualification
- Certified copy of original Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent of your country
- Certified copy of ID document
- Proof of payment of the non-refundable registration fee
