  • to to develop knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles and concepts relating to Maintaining Financial Records and technical proficiency in the use of double-entry accounting techniques including the preparation of basic financial statements.
  • to develop knowledge and understanding of how to prepare, process and present basic cost information to support management in planning and decision-making in a variety of business contexts.

Course Summary:

Duration of the Course: 4 Months (64 Hours) @ Braamfontein Campus (Available Weekdays, Part-Time Weekday Evenings, Saturdays)

Course Objective:

The ACCA Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting is an ACCA Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) qualification which aims are:

  • to to develop knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles and concepts relating to Maintaining Financial Records and technical proficiency in the use of double-entry accounting techniques including the preparation of basic financial statements.
  • to develop knowledge and understanding of how to prepare, process and present basic cost information to support management in planning and decision-making in a variety of business contexts.

Who Should Attend?

The Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting is awarded on the completion of exams Maintaining Financial Records (FA2) and Managing Costs and Finance (MA2) and Foundations in Professionalism.

The Introductory Certificate is suitable for those aspiring to work or already working in:

  • A junior accounts clerk/junior bookkeeper role in an SME
  • A range of junior accounting administration roles within an accounting department of a larger organisation or financial shared service centre.

The Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting is broadly equivalent to A level.

Course Prerequisites:

  • There are no course prerequisites for this course. Students however must be numerate and have a good command of English Language.
  • Registration with ACCA is a prerequisite as Johannesburg Polytechnic is a tuition provider while summative assessments are done by ACCA through our Licensed Computer Based Examinations Centre.

Course Assessment:

This course is assessed by a 2 hours Computer Based Examination at any Licensed ACCA CBE Centre per paper or on 2 hour paper based examination at a designated ACCA examination centre. Provisional Results are printed for you at the CBE Centre however final certificate will be available to download on MyACCA portal upon successful completion of the two modules (FA2 and MA2) and Foundations in Professionalism online module. You can access the Foundations in Professionalism online on MyACCA.
