If you have a keen interest in chemistry, this programme will help you develop the relevant knowledge and skills to use and apply organic and inorganic chemistry in different industries.

The programme enables a foundation in the areas of chemicals and chemical processes, bacteriology, chemistry of water, the use of laboratory equipment and techniques as well as quantitative and qualitative analysis. The programme provides a strong foundation to gain access into further studies in this field.

PROGRAM COMPOSITION (SUBJECTS)

    • Compulsory instructional offerings:
    • Industrial Chemistry N3.
    • Chemical Laboratory Technology N3.Optional instructional offering:
      Two of the following:
    • Mathematics N3;
    • Engineering Science N3; or
    • Industrial Science N3.

     



  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Grade 11 (Standard 9) or verifiable and relevant working experience (2 years).

 

DURATION

The duration for the course is THREE months.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

After successfully completing the N3 course a National Certificate N3 Engineering Studies in Chemical Laboratory Assistant will be issued.

 

ASSESSMENT

The pass requirement is a minimum of 40% per subject. Evaluations are cumulative, based on regular class tests and practical testing. At the end of each trimester a NATIONAL external examination is written.

The fees include all study guides, assignments, assessments and examination fees. They do not include practical sessions and prescribed text books.
