Information: Parktown CampusUntil September 2003, this was known as Parktown College. Located on 5 Ubla Avenue, Parktown, Johannesburg, Parktown campus is spread over an area of 150 000 square metres., sharing space with the College’s Central Administration Offices. It is at this campus where the College’s School of Enterprise and Business Development, as well as the School of Health and Human Services, are found. An average of 1 500 students study at Parktown campus every semester.

Information: This is the only campus of CJC that is located in a township. The Alexandra township is renowned for producing some of South Africa’s freedom fighters and liberation heros. This is one of the township that the south African Government has identified for its urban renewal project. The Alexandra Campus is thus strategically located to make a positive contribution to this government initiative by making available educational programmes that address poverty alleviation and create jobs and business opportunities. Here CJC offers skills courses precisely for this purpose. It is located on corner Cunning Street and Ninth Road, occupying an area of 30 000 square metres.About 5 kilometres south of Alexandra Campus, on corner Arkwright Street and Ninth Road, is Motswedi Centre. This is yet another of CJC’s pioneering initiative that is aimed at closing the skills gap in the Greater Johannesburg area. At Motswedi Centre Phase One. With Motswedi Centre Phase Two, CJC is on the one hand, looking to broaden the skills transfer scope by affording the College’s graduate students an opportunity to open and run business incubations of their own for the purpose of gaining practical experience in their respective fields on completion of their studies. On the other hand, the community will also have the opportunity to rent out office space where they can run their own small businesses. The latter is all in the quest to create a platform for business development in Alexandra. With private business partnership, the Motswedi Centre Phase Two is promising to be a training ground for future entrepreneurship, while positioning CJC as a community college.

Information: Ellis Park Campus was previously the Johannesburg Technical College. This is CJC’s biggest campus in physical terms, which also houses the biggest School – the School of Engineering Technololgy – in terms of student numbers. It covers an area of 100 000 square metres, with a capacity of about 3 600 students a trimester.The name Ellis Park Campus resonates well with the famous Ellis Park Rugby Stadium. This is because this campus is located right at the foot of the Rugby Stadium on 25 Currey Street, Doornfontein, Johannesburg.

Information: Riverlea Site on 39 Ashburton Street in Riverlea, is largely a Skills courses site offering such courses as Motor Mechanic and Electrical Engineering. This is also the seat of the Highveld Campus’ directorship. South of Riverlea, along the Soweto Highway, about 10 kilometres east of Soweto, is the Crown Mines Site. Crown Mines Site is situated on Shaft 17 Road, just close to the Soccer City Stadium, home of the opening and closing games of the 2010 Soccer World Cup. It boasts impressive soccer grounds which are host training grounds for the Kaizer Chiefs Football Club’s Under 17 squad. Synonymous with serenity, the Crown Mines was aptly made for the study of music and visual art.

Information: Located on 46 Pretoria Street, Troyeville, about 3 kilometres east of the Ellis Park Campus and the Ellis Park Stadium, the ICT Centre is a great ICT resource. It houses the only School Technology Innovation Centre (STIC) in Africa, one of the only six such centres in the world. The STIC is a public-private partnership of the Department of Education, Microsoft, Dell, Cisco and other IT companies. Here new technology is tested and evaluated before it can be used in the classroom for teaching purposes. Apart from training young people in various internationally accredited ICT fields, the Troyeville ICT Centre also offers ICT training to educators on behalf of the Gauteng Department of Education from time to time.
