What are the documents that students have to submit when applying for a bursary?
A certified copy of an Identity Document (ID) of the student, proof of income of parent(s)/ guardian (e.g. copy of salary/pay slip) and an academic record.

If a student has been granted a bursary and does not progress to the next level, is he/she still eligible for a bursary?
No. Students who do not progress in their studies will not be granted a bursary the following year. If he/she repeats the level and passes, he/she may reapply for a bursary.

What items does the bursary allocation cover?
The money may be used to cover college tuition fees, accommodation and transport.

Will all the students who are awarded bursaries receive the same amount?
Students may receive different amounts of bursary funding, depending on their level of need as indicated through the Means Test and depending on the costs that have to be covered.

NOTICE

· Please be informed that Buffalo City Public FET College has limited Student Bursary Funds

· Bursary allocation for the academic year 2014 will be as follows: 80% tuition fee, 15% accommodation and 5% transport

· Accommodation – college will be responsible for only 260 students to be accommodated at the College’s three residences

· Buffalo City Public FET College will not be responsible for any private accommodation

· Allocation of bursaries is on the basis of academic performance, financial need and class attendance

· Priority for College accommodation will be given to students who are financially needy and academically deserving

· Parents/guardians are encouraged to make arrangements and take responsibility for finding and financing private accommodation for their children who are not successful for College accommodation

· Only 600 financially deserving and academically performing students will be granted NSFAS bursaries for transport

· Kindly note that Buffalo City College is not in a financial position to provide free education

DHET FET BURSARY SCHEME

Buffalo City Public FET College wishes to inform all students, potential students, parents and guardians of the bursary budget allocated to the college to assist with tuition, accommodation and transport costs. Bursaries can only be offered to a limited number of students who qualify for bursaries. Due to the limited bursary funds and a high demand of bursaries, BCC is not in a position to award bursaries to all qualifying students. This is communicated with students when application forms are issued. The expectation that whoever applied for a bursary will receive one is unfortunately not true.
