ABOUT THE COMPANY – RAND WATER
Rand Water, a South African water utility company which supplies Gauteng (and various other areas of South Africa) with potable water, was founded in 1903. The company, previously known as the Rand Water Board, is Africa’s biggest water utility.
Rand Water provides purified water which has been extracted from various sources, to metropolitan municipalities; local municipalities; industries and mines. The company is also involved in waste water sanitation.
The distribution network includes over 3000 km of pipeline, which supplies 58 service reservoirs. The average supply of water is over 3500 million litres of water per day.
ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & SELECTION
Rand Water are inviting students studying towards undergraduate qualifications to apply for the bursary programme. Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:
- Internal Audit: National Diploma/ BCom (2nd year)
- Architectural Engineering/ BEng Architecture (4th year)
- Architectural Technology (specializing in Applied Design or Architectural Management: BTech (4th year)
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted – if you have not received any feedback regarding your application within 30 days from the application deadline, regard your application as unsuccessful.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African citizen
- Under 35 years old
- Completed Matric or equivalent
- Studying full-time within one of the above mentioned fields of study
- Registered and studying at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa (University/ University of Technology)
- Achieved a minimum of 65% for all major subjects
- Interested in working within the water sector
- From a previously disadvantaged background
- NOT in possession of any other bursary awards/ funding
- Self-motivated
- Results-driven
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
