3 Things To Consider When You Download Unisa Prescribed Books

Have you ever tried downloading a book and it keeps on getting an error? Sometimes you just have to restart your drive (Computer, laptop or phone) and other times it is more complicated than that.

Compatible Device

The type of device can impact the download of your book. What type of device (Computer, laptop, phone, tablet) do you make use of?

    • Size and screen – Is the screen big enough to view the book
    • Battery life – Some apps can really eat your battery life. If your battery is not strong enough, you will always charge your device before reading your book
  • Network Access – The type of network you use can impact the speed when downloading the book. Which network do you use? (3G, 4G, WiFi)
  • Software – The features your device has (Bookmarks, searching, dictionary, highlight)
  • Storage – The space on your phone. The number of gigabytes you have. If you do not have space to download your book, you will not be able to view it.

Software and Mobile Apps

Each device has a specific software (Windows, iOS, Android). Without the software, your device would not be working.

Some books only work on certain software types. Find the list below with the most popular software:

  • Adobe Digital Editions – iOS, Android, OS X
  • Google eBook – Android, iOS, any browser with Javascript enabled
  • Kindle software – Windows, Blackberry, Android, Windows Phone 7 and OS X
  • iBooks (iOS)

Correct File Format

This just refers to how you will view your book. Will it be in PDF Format (Portable Document Format) or just as Plain Text (Txt)? Most students like the PDF format.
