VISIONThis department will create mature graduates, armed with the tools to become successful entrepreneurs or influential employees wherever they work. By fostering a culture of learning, discipline and respect amongst our students, we aim to produce graduates who are not only placed in good jobs, but are actively sought after.

 



MISSION

To equip the best of disadvantaged students with the relevant practical knowledge of business and marketing in order for them to have successful, fulfilling careers and contribute to the economic growth of the province and country.
STRATEGIC PLAN

  • Establish good relationships with a range of employers to facilitate Work Integrated Learning (WIL).

 

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

To teach and train the best disadvantaged individuals to become highly skilled, astute and honest marketers of products, services and business concepts.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All prospective students must have a minimum of 20 points in the National Senior Certificate characterised by the following criteria:

  • English passed at level 5 (First additional language) or level 4 (Home language).
  • Subjects passed at levels 2 and 1 are excluded from the counting of these points.
  • Life Orientation is excluded from the counting of these points.
  • Satisfaction of other requirements for further selection.

LIST OF SUBJECT EQUIVALENCES



Business Information Systems (ERBSSS8) is equivalent to End-User Computing I (EUCM010); Financial Accounting I is equivalent to Accounting for Marketers I.

PASS REQUIREMENTS

All subjects must be passed with at least 50%.

PRACTICAL

In order to practice the skills required to speak in public effectively (taught in Personal Selling and Advertising & Sales Promotion) students are required to present in front of an audience. Students will also be trained to analyse case studies in Marketing II, Marketing III, Consumer Behaviour I, Marketing Research III, and Sales Management III.

WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING

This is currently not a compulsory component of the programme. However, prospective employers are being approached in order to build relationships so that Work Integrated Learning (WIL) can be incorporated into the programme and made compulsory in the near future.
